Madison County Schools and Ergon, Inc., (Ergon) today announced the purchase of the former Diversified Technology Property (DTI Campus) located on Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland, Mississippi.
Madison County Schools will use the campus’ 54,000-square-foot office complex as its administrative headquarters, consolidating multiple locations throughout the county with room for future growth. The 88,000-square-foot building behind the administrative office will be converted to accommodate the district’s preschool for children with special needs. Overall, the facility encompasses a 28-acre gated campus with excellent visibility along what is arguably the premier business parkway in the state of Mississippi.
Superintendent Dr. Ronnie McGehee observed, “For several years, we have been looking to relocate our administrative offices to a central area within the district. We sincerely appreciate Ergon’s willingness to partner with Madison County Schools in this endeavor. Their generosity has allowed us to obtain more space than we could have affordably built, and to free up desperately needed classroom space throughout the district in locations where we are presently housing administrative offices. This move enables the district to maximize its financial resources today and well into the future. We are excited about the expanded training opportunities that this facility offers, and to finally bring all of our Central Office functions and our preschool to the same location.”
Ergon made a sizeable concession in the purchase price as part of a deal-structure to make this acquisition a viable option for the children of Madison County.
Jim DeFoe, Vice President of Ergon Properties, Inc., said, “Ergon is glad to be in a position to offer this facility to the Madison County School District. Many of our employees live in Madison County, and their children attend schools in the area. It has been a pleasure to work with Superintendent Dr. Ronnie McGehee and his staff throughout this process. We’re delighted that the DTI Campus will be used for a greater purpose, and excited about the benefits it will provide both the school district and the families it serves.”
